| CHICAGO DRAPERY AND CARPET, INC. CHANGES ITS NAME TO THE CDC GROUP, INC.
CHICAGO, IL, October 16, 2008: Chicago Drapery and Carpet, Inc. celebrates its twentieth anniversary in 2008, and is marking the occasion with a name change. Effective immediately, Chicago Drapery and Carpet, Inc. will become The CDC Group, Inc. The company provides custom window treatments to commercial and residential clients and specializes in automated window treatments.
Sam Lallas started Chicago Drapery and Carpet, Inc. at his kitchen table in 1988. He initiated the name change to reflect the company’s expansion of its product line from custom window treatments to sophisticated systems integration, engineering, and installation services for automated and mechanized window treatments. The CDC Group, Inc. plans to launch a line of custom architectural interior products, including architectural panels, partitions, wall systems and projection screens.
The new name also signals an expanded market share for The CDC Group, Inc. Originally, Chicago Drapery and Carpet, Inc. served clients in Chicago and its suburbs. Today, The CDC Group’s market share extends throughout the upper Midwest, including Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Iowa. The company has expanded its business in Wisconsin considerably, and recently opened a new office in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. In 2008, The CDC Group, Inc. projects that the Wisconsin office will account for more than 30% of the company’s annual sales.
“The CDC Group, Inc. name builds on the solid reputation of Chicago Drapery and Carpet, Inc. and goes beyond window treatments,” says Sam Lallas, President of The CDC Group, Inc. “We are able to provide more comprehensive solutions for window treatment projects due to our ability, not only to install the treatments themselves, but also to design, engineer and install the housings, as well as the blocking infrastructure to supports the housings. We are a turnkey solution and contractors know they can rely on The CDC Group, Inc. expertise to get the job done right.”
The CDC Group, Inc. is a longtime dealer for all of the industry leaders and major manufacturers of window treatment products including MechoShade, Levolor, Hunter Douglas, Springs Window Systems, and Lutron Shading and Lighting Controls.
Automated window treatments are a key component of green design - allowing users to automatically adjust window coverings to control light and heat – and are factored into a building’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). The CDC Group, Inc. specializes in the automated window treatments that can sense light levels and adjust window coverings to let in more natural light or create shade to reduce cooling costs. “Daylight harvesting can make a huge difference in energy use and operating costs,” notes Lallas.
